For our sweet-toothed friends around the world, here is the English version of this delightful recipe.
Banana Pudding
Banana pudding is a classic, no-bake dessert that spells pure comfort. Particularly beloved in the Southern United States, it’s a heavenly layered creation of creamy pudding, ripe bananas, and soft vanilla wafers. This recipe is wonderfully simple, relying on instant pudding mix and whipped cream to create a light, airy, and luscious dessert that can be assembled in minutes.
The key to a truly great banana pudding is using very ripe bananas; their natural sweetness and soft texture are essential for the best flavour and consistency. While the recipe suggests vanilla pudding, you can easily amplify the banana taste by using a banana-flavoured pudding mix instead. Don’t be afraid to experiment with the biscuit layer; while vanilla wafers are traditional, crushed shortbread or even ladyfingers can provide a delicious alternative texture.
This dessert is perfect for making ahead of time, as letting it chill in the fridge allows the wafers to soften and all the flavours to meld together into a glorious, scoopable treat. It’s an ideal dessert for family gatherings, potlucks, or any time you need a crowd-pleasing sweet that is both easy to make and utterly irresistible.
Ingredients
- Half a can of condensed milk
- 2 cups cold water
- 1 box of Jell-O instant vanilla pudding mix (or use banana-flavoured pudding for a stronger banana taste)

- Vanilla wafers (or you can use graham crackers), coarsely crushed
- Very ripe bananas, sliced
- Cocoa powder or grated chocolate, for garnish
- Chopped nuts (hazelnut or peanut), for garnish
Method
- In a bowl, mix the condensed milk with the cold water until it dissolves.
- Pour in the instant pudding mix and whisk until it begins to thicken.
- Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.
- After four hours, whip the double cream until it forms stiff peaks.
- Gently fold the chilled pudding mixture into the whipped cream until it is smooth and evenly combined.
- You can chill this mixture again for another 4 hours for the best texture, or proceed if you can’t wait.
